The purpose of a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is to get rid of any particulate matter or soot that comes from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine – DPF’s are usually at least 85% efficient. Using active technology, most devices burn off the accumulated soot, resulting in a clean filter. Filter regeneration occurs when the filter load reaches a set level at which the particulates will oxide at relatively low temperatures.
